Walt Disney World Adjusts Online Details for Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom

Walt Disney World has updated its official “Coming to the Parks” webpage for the upcoming Tropical Americas project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, removing the previously listed 2027 opening timeframe from the site.

The website changes follow the D23 fan event held in August, where Disney shared fresh details about the 11-acre development but did not mention a specific opening year during the presentation. The revised webpage description no longer advises guests to prepare for a journey to the land in 2027. Instead, the updated text introduces the official attraction names recently revealed by Imagineers, including Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos.

Despite the removal of the date from the primary Walt Disney World webpage, the 2027 timeframe has not been entirely scrubbed from all official company sources. An article published on the Disney Parks Blog in late April continues to reference a 2027 opening, and Disney has not announced any official delay, a replacement opening date, or a shift to 2028.

Meanwhile, physical progress across the former DinoLand U.S.A. site continues at a rapid pace. Recent aerial photographs show significant construction milestones throughout Pueblo Esperanza, the fictional community inspired by Central and South American landscapes and architecture. The large show building for Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto is largely enclosed, with steel framing for the Casita facade rising beside it.

Construction is also advancing on El Carrusel de los Animalitos, which now features a mostly covered roof alongside ongoing work on the central plaza fountain. The former Restaurantosaurus building is undergoing extensive structural transformation to become a sprawling hacienda restaurant.

For the Indiana Jones attraction, crews have installed large sections of the Maya temple facade over the former DINOSAUR area. These colorful red and blue decorative elements were fabricated and painted backstage by Walt Disney Imagineering before being lifted into position by cranes. Additionally, exterior sheathing is being applied to the main Pueblo Esperanza entrance archway near Discovery Island, while themed rockwork and new rooflines take shape across the site.

The transformation leaves Animal Kingdom with a smaller operational ride lineup following the closures of DINOSAUR and TriceraTop Spin. Guests visiting the park currently can still experience attractions such as Na’vi River Journey, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, and Avatar Flight of Passage, alongside live shows like Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!
