Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Closes for Seasonal Refurbishment

Walt Disney World Resort has officially closed Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park for its scheduled seasonal refurbishment. The closure began on September 9, 2026, following the final day of operations for the park on Tuesday, September 8.

During the summer months, Typhoon Lagoon operated simultaneously alongside Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park to accommodate high seasonal demand and the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER promotion. That promotion ran from May 26 through September 8, allowing Disney Resort hotel guests to receive complimentary admission to either water park on their check-in day.

With Typhoon Lagoon now closed for the fall and winter seasons, Disney’s Blizzard Beach stands as the only operational water park option at Walt Disney World. Because Blizzard Beach is currently the sole water park welcoming visitors, the complimentary check-in day admission perk for Disney Resort guests now applies exclusively to Blizzard Beach.

Guests who check into a Disney Resort hotel on September 9 and beyond will not receive the same-day free admission perk for Blizzard Beach, as the check-in day perk was tied specifically to the dates of the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER promotion. At this time, it remains unclear whether Walt Disney World Resort will choose to bring the promotion back in 2027.

While Walt Disney World Resort has not yet announced an official reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon, past refurbishment timelines indicate that a spring 2027 reopening is likely. Historically, the destination rotates its water park availability, typically welcoming Typhoon Lagoon back in the spring when Blizzard Beach closes for its own seasonal refurbishment.
