Disney Shares New Dining and Concept Art Details for Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios

Disney has released new information regarding the upcoming Monstropolis land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, offering a look at menu plans for its two restaurants and sharing updated concept art. The Monsters, Inc. inspired land is scheduled to open in phases starting in 2027.

Culinary and beverage teams worked alongside Walt Disney Imagineering to design food and drinks for the land, aiming for what the team calls grossly fun options. The approach takes familiar items and gives them monster-inspired twists while keeping the dishes appealing to human guests. Chef Brian Piasecki, Director of Culinary and Concept Development, and Evan Rosenthal, Beverage Director, helped shape the new menus.
Harryhausen’s will serve as the table-service restaurant, inspired by the dining spot featured in the original film. Imagineers are building the restaurant to match the movie, including an Audio-Animatronic head sushi chef equipped with eight tentacles stationed in the center of the dining area to prepare food. While the menu will include more than just sushi, the team highlighted ramen bowls as a standout item. Culinary staff are exploring ramen options featuring tonkotsu broth, alkaline ramen noodles, green eggs, and sliced fishcake designed to resemble eyeballs. Rosenthal noted that while Harryhausen’s represents an upscale night out in the films, the team wants the dining experience to remain entertaining and accessible for guests of all ages.
Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will operate as the quick-service location. Inspired by Monsters University and named after Fear Tech’s six-legged mascot, the restaurant is designed to evoke the style of a college pizza hangout. The quick-service spot is also planned to introduce Blort to the real world. Blort is a popular soft drink from Monsters University that appears on screen when Mike falls asleep studying, but human guests have never tasted it. One concept being explored for the beverage is a purple frozen version of the soft drink topped with Scream Apple Foam, though Disney describes this as a possibility rather than a confirmed menu item. The Monsters University Alumni Club will be located next door to the pizza restaurant.

Alongside the dining previews, Disney released updated concept art for the Welcome to Monstropolis pre-show lobby at the Glob Theater. The revised artwork for the theater lobby features changes to the interior design, including green walls, a green and gold patterned carpet, updated posters, and a Glob Concessions stand layout that includes a machine labeled Blort. The revised concept art also replaces earlier monster-themed chandeliers and a movie poster parody with more classic decorative fixtures and alternative artwork. Disney has confirmed that parts of Monstropolis will open in 2027.
