VIDEO: In this Episode of “Ride and Learn” Step into the 5th Dimension in The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

October 16, 2020

In celebration of Halloween Disney has released a new “Ride in Learn” episode featuring the guest-favorite Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.  The attraction opened back in July 1994 and is among the tallest structures found at Disney Parks.  Going up?  While  the Hollywood Tower Hotel may look abandoned its maintenance service elevators are still operational.

The rickety elevator-style lift is based on the television series The Twilight Zone which aired from 1959 to 1964 and was hosted and written by Rod Serling.   In preparation for designing the ride Walt Disney Imagineers screened all 156 episodes at least twice to properly set the mood.  Many of the special effects are similar to those used in the Haunted Mansion.  Families of all ages adorn the ride but since it includes fast drops in dark enclosed spaces it may be too frightening for some guests.

Looming at the end of Sunset Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the infamous Hollywood Tower Hotel. From a distance, it’s one of the most picturesque scenes in any Disney park – the 20-story building stands tall and grand above a long, tree-lined street, backed on most days by a brilliantly blue Florida sky.

As you draw closer, though … that’s when you hear the screams.
